AI information is not always visible in the picture itself. It can be stored in structured fields attached to the file, which is why an image can look ordinary while still carrying a generated-content declaration or identifying capture data.
C2PA content credentials are cryptographically signed manifests that can describe how an image was created or edited. IPTC digital source type can mark media as trained algorithmic media, composite or synthetic. XMP fields may hold similar AI-source information. This tool removes those embedded declarations from the downloaded file so future shares do not carry them.
EXIF can include camera make, model, lens, exposure settings, timestamps, author names, software names and GPS coordinates. Even when a social service removes some fields, the original file on your device may still contain them. Removing EXIF helps reduce unnecessary device and location clues before a photo is posted, emailed or sold.

JPEG and JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF receive direct metadata stripping. AVIF, BMP and TIFF are accepted when your browser can decode them; those less common formats use a local Canvas fallback that creates a new image without the original metadata container. The downloadable extension follows the output format so an image is not mislabeled.

A platform can only see metadata that is present when the upload happens; it cannot act on fields that were already removed locally. Metadata removal itself is lossless, and color information is unchanged. For JPEG, PNG, WebP and GIF files, the tool removes metadata blocks without re-encoding the pixel data. Some less common formats use a browser-decoded fallback, which can visually preserve the image but may not be bit-for-bit identical.
